When you're a mom, there's never enough time in the day. Any all of my kids wake up super early, so I always feel like I'm hitting the ground running. I often don't have much time to get ready (as I'm sure many busy moms don't) and I need a quick and easy makeup routine in the morning.
This also goes for when we travel. I like to be pretty low-maintenance as far as skincare and makeup goes. I try and pack light and don't want to bring a ton, so I've narrowed it down to a few key go-to products that I always bring with me that give a fresh, glowy look. These products have become my everyday makeup look.
Let me preface this by saying I'm no makeup expert! And different things work for different people. But I'm always happy to share what works for me, and I love getting recommendations from you as well!
Skincare:
I don't use too much on my face. But there's a few products that I use constantly. My skin gets dry easily, so I try to focus on keeping my skin ultra hydrated and that's about it. Here's what I use:
- Cosrx Snail Mucin Gel Cleanser. This face wash is my absolute favorite cleanser that I've tried. Yep, it has snail slime in it, but give it a try. It leaves your face so clean and silky feeling.
- Coco & Eve Antioxidant Face Tanning Micromist. I swear by this tanning facial mist. It gives you the perfect glow, and because it's a mist, it applies so evenly and fades naturally and beautifully. I use it twice a week for a light sun-kissed color. I use the color Sunny Honey.
- Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm. This is a thick balm that helps remove makeup without stripping the skin. I switch off between this and the Snail Mucin Cleanser above. This one is an oil-infused facial balm cleanser that intensely nourishes the skin for a soft, hydrated complexion. It's a solid, buttery form which melts into an oil once warmed up on skin. I love it.
- Tula Skincare 24/7 Moisture. This is a great, lightweight daily moisturizer.
- Elemis Pro Collagen Marine cream. I switch off between this and the Tula moisturizer. This collagen-rich cream is a bit thicker and is great for major hydration. It's won a ton of awards.
- Maree collagen eye gels. These are my go-to when we travel and I need to brighten up my eyes after a major jet-leg day or when I'm feeling exhausted. It helps with dark circles and puffiness with hyaluronic acid and pearl extract.
- Koec Deep Collagen Anti Wrinkle Lifting Mask. When you need an allover boost of hydration, this mask is it. It's gone viral all over social media because it gives you that glass skin look when you peel the mask off. I sleep in it overnight. These masks are very loved!
Makeup:
I feel like less is more, and I don't like the feel of heavy makeup on my face every day, so I try to find things that feel very lightweight with light coverage. This whole routine takes me about 5-10 minutes, which is all I want to spend on makeup.
Here's my everyday products:
- Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30. This feels so lightweight on your face and gives such a pretty glow. It's pretty light coverage but holds well throughout the day. I use St Moritz Medium 1.
- Nars Laguna Talc-Free Bronzer Powder. This has been my go-to for a long time. I love how it blends.
-
Merit Day Glow Dewy Highlighting Balm. I use the color Cava (it's a soft champagne color)
-
Nars Powder Blush in Orgasm 777. This gives the prettiest peachy pink color with a golden shimmer. I've used this for years and it's constantly my favorite.
- Artis Oval makeup brush. These brushes are a splurge but they are absolutely they best. They apply makeup so smooth and don't absorb too much in the brush head. They're so incredibly soft and feel so gentle on your face. I can't recommend these enough. I love them. I have an Oval 6 and an Oval 7.
- Tartelette Tubing Mascara. I love this stuff. It doesn't flake or fall throughout the day. And I feel like out of all the mascaras I've tried, this one doesn't clump your lashes. It gives the prettiest fan, separation and lift for your lashes.
- Loreal liquid waterproof eyeliner. This isn't anything fancy but I've found that this one goes on so smoothly and wears well throughout the day. I also like the applicator on this one.
- Maybelline NY Tattoo Studio Brow Pomade. I've tried so many different things for brows. I like this one to help fill in brows without leaving any harsh lines like you'd get with a pencil sometimes. I use a thin little eyeliner brush it comes with to apply it and lightly stamp it on. This will last you for such a long time. I use 376 medium brown.
- Iconic London Prep-Set-Glow Hydrating Glowy Setting Spray. I love this stuff so much. I spray it all over my face as a last step setting spray. It helps moisturize your skin too, which I've noticed helps a ton to help makeup not feel too heavy and dry on my skin (I'm super sensitive to that). I use the color Original.
- L'Oreal Paris Glow Paradise Hydrating Balm-in-Lipstick with Pomegranate Extract. I don't love anything on my lips that feels drying, and this lipstick is fantastic and feels so smooth and stays smooth. It's a dupe for the popular Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick and it's a good one. I use the color 130- Nude Heaven.
Other tinted moisturizers I've used and rotate in my routine. Both of these are majorly raved about by dermatologists and loved my many! Both have great SPF protection:
- ColorScience Total Protection Face Shield Glow. This spf moisturizer is so pretty and just adds a buildable glow to your face. It has a sheer golden tint for a luminous, "lit-from-within" look.
- ColorScience Total Protection Face Shield Flex. The main difference between this one and the one above is that this one, the Face Shield Flex, provides buildable color coverage with tone-adapting pigments, offering a demi-matte finish. This one has gone viral on TikTok.
- EltaMD Tinted Sunscreen. This is another favorite of dermatologists and gives a really light, sheer tint to your skin while providing great SPF coverage.
